Gardening the Wild
July 10th - 14th and Aug 7-11

Let’s dig in the dirt! Join us for a week of planting and eating, both in the garden and in our forest. You can discover the secret tricks of plants, build fairy villages, create a woodland garden, and take little pieces of our farm home with you. We will learn and explore aspects of permaculture as well as non-traditional gardening practices.

Critters of the Cove

June 19-23 and July 24th-28th

Explore the animals that live in our cove forest. Catch butterflies and salamanders, track deer and bears, and pretend to be an animal yourself!  We will also play games that explore what sounds animals make, how they walk and how they camouflage into their environments. Imagination will run wild this week as we design our own critters and homes for them, as well as animal masks and wings!

Homestead Skills

July 17th-21st and Aug 14th-18th

This is our Do-It-Yourself week. Learn to can food, use garden tools, create useful household items, build projects, grow food and more! There will be a sustainability project each week of this camp that will help to create/build/install something for the Farmstead that endures into the future.  Examples include installing a rain barrel, building a compost pile, or creating boardwalks for our marshier areas.  Campers will also go home with some of their creations, the knowledge and recipes to do again and again.

Water Wonders
June 26th-30th & July 31st-Aug 4th

Back by popular demand! This was a splashing success last summer so we thought we would do it again!  Discover the wonders of water! We’ll splash in the creek, water the garden, paint with watercolors, and learn about what makes water so unique.  We will explore color theory with dyed water play, talk about stream ecology, and have been known to pull a sprinkler out on occasion too!

 Camping Skills
Aug 21st - 25th

Learn to camp like the pros! We’ll use compasses, read the stars, build shelters, make fire, cook outside, and use the principles of Leave No Trace. Explore new corners of the forest, search for a good camping spot, and learn about different gear associated with camping.  This camp has two special events: We’ll watch the total solar eclipse on Monday and have a campout on Thursday night with the counselors!

The campout portion of this camp is optional and comes with an additional $50.00 fee.  Parents will send kids to camp Thursday morning with a lunch just like any other day and we will provide Thursday dinner along with breakfast and lunch on Friday.  We will sleep outside, gaze at the stars, cook over a fire (burn ban permitting), tell stories, and sleep soundly in tents!
