At Asheville Farmstead School we teach children about nature and themselves through the farm and forest.  Our staff works passionately to support the Farmstead's mission and vision and is the backbone of our organization.

At Asheville Farmstead School our staff take a great deal of pride in being well educated engaged members of the new and growing forest school movement.  We have two staff members that trained with the late Erin Kenny in The Cedarsong Way.  Additionally the Farmstead is one of four schools internationally to be accredited in our use of the Cedarsong Way methodology.  The Farmstead is an active organization in the American Forest Kindergarten Association.  We have two staff members who sit on the Board of Directors for The Cedarsong Way, and one that is on the Board of Directors for the American Forest Kindergarten Association.

Our Executive Director was the recipient of the  2018 Wonder Award given out by the Eastern Region Association of Forest and Nature Schools annual Nature-wonder conference.  Additionally in 2019 our Executive Director was recognized as Alumni of the year from The Children's Garden School, which she attended as a preschool and shaped her desire to run a school.

Our philosophies have deep roots connected to the Forest School movement, a nature based teaching pedagogy called The Cedarsong Way and a teaching/parenting philosophy called Love and Logic.  At the Farmstead we combine all of these roots to create a magical outdoor nautre rich learning environment.

The Farmstead is located in 25 acres in the back of a cove in Candler, North Carolina.  Over 20 acres are forested.  We have one forest classroom and two main trails that travel, one of which goes all the way to a ridgeline were in the Winter months you can see downtown Asheville and the Biltmore Estate.  Additionally we have 2 acres of field, were Rainbow Ridge Gardens raises chickens and grows vegetables to sell at the Enka-Candler Tailgate Market the Farmstead sponsors.

Visit our blog which contains our newsletter, nature notes, story time, and all our other digital content.  It is a great way to learn more about us and what we are learning around the Farmstead.  We are also active on Facebook and Instagram
