Gardening Guru May 2020
Ms. Michelle and Rainbow Ridge Gardens here… Boy do I miss all the kiddos in the garden, My little guy has been with me so it is never boring but I miss the sounds of laughter, dino shrieks and all the tiny helping hands with their wonderful questions.
I’ve been keeping extra busy starting a TON of seeds. We will have organic plant starts, fresh eggs and seasonal produce to sell at The Enka-Candler Tailgate Market. I have a small hoop house on my back porch to keep an eye on the seedlings. I talk to them daily and my son has been singing to them!
I am so proud of our community rallying around our local restaurants and farmers. I am working to turn my unease with the future into doing more. I am reminded why my family chose Candler as home 20 years ago. Our community is full of love, kindness, empathy and ingenuity. We will come back, we will work to complete the cycle of sustainability, we will support our farmers, our service industry, our essential community, and those affected by job loss. I urge you to get to a farmers market (preferably ours but any will do!), check on your neighbor, purchase a gift card from closed businesses and support local whenever you can. In honor of a friend lost almost a year ago… Fear less; Do more.
Here is a super fun project to do with your kiddos:
Plants in a bag!
We are growing beans to observe. My son wants to try cucumbers and corn next. I would love to see your results!
I am an email away and am here to support and cannot wait to see our Farmstead Families at market once the season gets started. Michelle@ahevillefarmstead.org
